DIY Fizzy Bath Bombs

In our favorite girls' cycle book, Reaching for the Moon, Lucy Pearce suggests a cozy bath on cycle day 5.  Torie loves cozy baths (she calls it tubbing), and making her own fun, fizzy bath bombs recently jumped to the top of her DIY bucket list.  Here's what she did (and it worked perfectly, by the way.)  BONUS! We made you free printable PDF directions below the post.

This makes about 4 medium bombs (We made 2 mediums & 4 smalls). Feel free to double or half or whatever as needed.

1/4 cup epsom salt
1/2 cup citric acid
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
6-8 drops of essential oil(s)
Bath bomb molds
Soap coloring (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. if you are using color, add a few drops of soap coloring to The Epsom Salt.  Evenly coat, set aside.

2. In a medium size bowl, mix together dry ingredients (citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch) add your colored Epsom Salt, mix well and set aside.

3. In a separate bowl, combine your oils, then gradually add these to the bowl of dry ingredients.  If you pour too quickly, the liquid will create a reaction, so just add a spoonful at a time and you should be good.  (Torie did a Lemongrass/Peppermint combo, and a Lavender/Eucalyptus combo in her batches so far.  Both smell amazing. And as a bonus, she spilled some and our kitchen now smells like a Lush store.)

5. Use your hands to knead everything together inside of the bowl until your ingredients start to clump together. It should feel like damp SANDCASTLE sand.

6. Scoop the mixture into the molds you’re using, overfill each half a little and press the halves together as you  pack it down tight.

7. Tap the top half of the mold with a spoon to pop off the top, flip it over, tap the other side with a spoon, and it should pop all the way out in one piece.  This took a couple of tries to get right.  If it breaks in half, put the mixture back in the bowl, and repeat steps 5 & 6.

8. Let your bath bombs dry for at least 24 hours & enjoy!
